Five new organic–inorganic hybrid compounds based on [P2W18O62]6− (abbreviated as {P2W18}) and several types of transition metal complexes (TMCs) have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XRD, cyclic voltammetry measurements and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. [Cu(phen)2][Cu(phen)(H2O)3][Cu(phen)2(H2O)][P2W18O62]·8H2O (1) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) is a {P2W18} bi-supported complex of phen, while [Cu(2,2′-bpy)(H2O)2]2[Cu(2,2′-bpy)2][P2W18O62]·3.5H2O (2) (2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) is a 1-D chain structure formed by {P2W18} and copper complexes of 2,2′-bpy. [Ag(2,2′-bpy)2]5[HP2W18O62]·H2O (3), [Ag(2,2′-bpy)(H2O)]2[Ag(2,2′-bpy)]2[Ag2(2,2′-bpy)3][P2W18O62] (4), and [Ag(2,2′-bpy)(H2O)]3[Ag2(2,2′-bpy)3][Ag(2,2′-bpy)][P2W18O62]·H2O (5) are constructed from {P2W18} and silver complexes of 2,2′-bpy. Compounds 4 and 5 are novel dimers of {P2W18} joined by silver complexes, while compound 3 contains two different kinds of silver complexes, forming a novel supramolecular structure. Each of the five compounds is formed by {P2W18} and more than one type of TMC. The formation mechanism of these compounds has been carefully discussed. In addition, we also synthesized two supramolecular structures based on {P2W18} and organic moieties: [H6P2W18O62](phen)5.5 (6) and [H6P2W18O62](phen)3·43H2O (7). Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that compound 1 is isomorphous and isostructural with a compound reported by us recently, the main difference between the two is the heteroatom of the polyoxoanions in the two compounds. Compound 2 is a supramolecular structure constructed from polyoxoanions and transition metal mixed-organic-ligand complexes. Compound 3 is a novel polyoxoanion bi-supported transition metal mixed-organic-ligand complex. Three compounds, [AsMo8V6O42][Cu(2,2ʹ-bpy)2]2[Cu(2,2ʹ-bpy)]·4H2O (1), [PMo8V6O42][Cu(2,2ʹ-bpy)2]2[Cu(2,2ʹ-bpy)]·3H2O (2) and [PMo8V6O42][Cu(2,2ʹ-bpy)2]2[Cu(2,2ʹ-bpy)]·3.5H2O (3), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR, UV–vis, XRD, TG, elemental analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Single-crystal X-ray structure analysis reveals that1and2are isostructural and isomorphous, whereas2and3are polymorphs. Polymorphs of1have not been synthesized yet. Six new organic–inorganic hybrid compounds based on [XM12O40]4− (X = heteroatom, M = metal atom), namely [Cu(pic)2][H2XM12O40]·2Hapy·2apy (X = Si, M = W for 1, X = Ge, M = W for 2 and X = Si, M = Mo for 3), [Cu(2,2′-bpy)2][Cu(2,2′-bpy)(H2O)][Cu(pic)2]0.5[XM12O40]·nH2O (X = Si, M = Mo, n = 0.5 for 4, X = Ge, M = W, n = 1 for 5) and [Cu(phen)(H2O)]2[Cu(pic)2][GeW12O40]·2.5H2O (6) (pic = deprotonated picolinic acid, apy = 2-aminopyridine, 2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = phenanthroline), have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XRD, cyclic voltammetric measurements and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that compounds 1–3 are isomorphous and isostructural, in which each is based on [H2XM12O40]2− and [Cu(pic)2]. Compounds 4 and 5 are also isomorphous and isostructural, of which the structures are more interesting than those of compounds 1–3. Both structures are constructed from [XM12O40]4− and metal mixed–organic–ligand complexes. Compound 6 is also constructed from Keggin ions and metal mixed–organic–ligand complexes, which are, however, thoroughly different from those of compounds 4 and 5. The photodegradation properties of compounds 1–6 have been analyzed. Compounds 1–3 also exhibit rapid absorption properties for RhB (Rhodamine B). Five new organic–inorganic hybrid compounds based on the Keggin-type polyoxoanion [SiW12O40]4−, namely [Cu3(2,2′-bpy)3(inic)(μ2-OH)(H2O)][SiW12O40]·2H2O (1), [Cu6(phen)6(μ3-Cl)2(μ2-Cl)2Cl2(inic)2][SiW12O40]·6H2O (2), [Cu2(hnic)(2,2′-bpy)2Cl]2[H2SiW12O40] (3), [Cu2(nic)(phen)2Cl2]2[SiW12O40] (4) and [Cu2(pic)(2,2′-bpy)2Cl]2[SiW12O40] (5) (inic = isonicotinic acid, hnic = 2-hydroxy-nicotinic acid, nic = nicotinic acid, pic = picolinic acid, 2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XPS, XRD, cyclic voltammetric measurements, photoluminescence analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Crystal analysis reveals that compound 1 exhibits a 2-D double layered framework structure constructed from [SiW12O40]4− and copper-aqua-2,2′-bipy-hydroxyl-isonicotinate complexes. Compound 2 is a 0-D discrete structure formed by [SiW12O40]4− and copper-chloro-isonicotinate-phenanthroline complexes. Compound 3 shows a 1-D single chain structure based on the linkage of copper-2,2-bpy-chloro-2-hydroxy-nicotinate complexes and [SiW12O40]4−. Compounds 4 and 5 both contain polyoxometalate supported transition metal complexes, one is a polyoxometalate supported copper-chloro-nicotinate-phenanthroline complex in 4, and the other is a polyoxometalate supported copper-2,2-bpy-chloro-nicotinate complex in 5. It should be noted that nicotinic, isonicotinic and picolinic acids are structural isomers and 2-hydroxy-nicotinic acid is an in situ hydroxylated product of nicotinic acid. Two supramolecular compounds based on Keggin-type polyoxometalates (POMs), (4,4′-H2bpy)(4,4′-Hbpy)[PMo12O40] (1) and (4,4′-H2bpy)(4,4′-Hbpy)2[SiW12O40] · 4H2O (2), have been synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis, XPS spectra, thermogravimetric analyses, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Two compounds based on polyoxometalates, (4,4'-H2bpy)7(4,4'-Hbpy)[ [image omitted]]2[ [image omitted]] ·10H2O (1) and (4,4'-H2bpy)6(4,4'-bpy)[ [image omitted]]2 · 18H2O (2), have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR, XPS spectra, TG analyses, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. A polyoxometalate [Co(phen)3][Co(en)3][Co(en)2(H2O)2][Co(en)2]0.5[ [image omitted]O40(VIVO)2] · 6H2O (1) (en = ethylenediamine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, electron paramagnetic resonance, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, elemental analyses, and thermogravimetry. The structure is an interesting 3-D supramolecular network containing bi-capped Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium clusters with transition metal complexes generated in situ under mild hydrothermal conditions. Compound 1 contains four different counteractions being coordinated complexes of cobalt. The magnetic properties of 1 have also been studied in the temperature range of 4-300 K, and its magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie-Weiss law, showing ferromagnetic coupling. Two new polyoxometalates [HN(C2H5)3]3[PMo12O40] (1) and [NH2(C2H4NH3)2]2[Mo5P2O23] (2) have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XPS spectra, TG analyses, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data for 1: monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 24.651(5) Å, b = 10.822(2) Å, c = 22.413(5) Å, β = 120.37(3)°, and V = 5158.7(18) Å3; for 2: triclinic, space group P-1, a = 9.821(2) Å, b = 9.948(2) Å, c = 14.687(3) Å, α = 95.490(3)°, β = 98.870(3)°, γ = 95.710(3)°, and V = 1401.7(5) Å3. A novel POM compound containing the first Sb bicapped Keggin anion {SiMo12O40Sb2} and two different layers constructed from these anions stacked alternately has already been hydrothermally synthesized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Two new interesting polyoxometalate derivatives 1 and 2 constructed of modified metal–oxo cluster ions carrying positive and negative changes, respectively, was hydrothermally prepared and structurally characterized by IR, ESR, XPS, elemental analysis and X-ray crystallography. The result of structure determination shows that compound 1 and 2 are isostructural and both contain polyoxocation and polyoxoanion, and both cation and anion are built on mixed Mo–V tetra-capped pseudo-Keggin units with P centre, [Mo8V8O40(PO4)]n-, bonded to four or two [Ni(2,2′-bipy)2H2O]2+ complexes, respectively, via terminal oxygen of the capping V atoms. A novel compound, [Cu(en)2(H2O)]4[Cu(en)2]3.5[PMoVI8VIV6O42Cu(en)(1,10′-phen)]3·14H2O 1 (en = ethylenediamine, phen = phenanthroline), was synthesized hydrothermally (170 °C, 10 days, autogeneous pressure) and characterized by IR, ESR, elemental analyses and X-ray crystallography. The results of structure determination show that compound 1 contains three different structure cluster anions [PMoVI8VIV6O42]7− supporting complex cation [Cu(en)(1,10′-phen)]2+, in which one cluster anion possesses typical bicapped Keggin structure, while other two polyanions only have bicapped quasi-Keggin structures, and [Cu(en)(1,10′-phen)]2+ is linked through oxygen atoms to different V positions of two bicapped quasi-Keggin units. Abstract: Three compounds based on polyoxometalate building blocks, [Cu(en)2]{[Cu(en)2]2[MoVI 5MoV 3VIV 8O40(PO4)]}·4H2O (1), [Co(en)2]{[Co(en)2]2[HMoVI 4MoV 4VIV 8O40(PO4)]}·5H2O (2) and [Ni(en)2]{[Ni(en)2]2[MoVI 5MoV 3VIV 8O40(VO4)]}·2H2O (3) (en=ethylenediamine), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, XPS, XRD, TGA and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The result of structure determination shows that isomorphic compounds 1, 2 and 3 feature a one-dimensional chain built from the reduced tetra-capped pseudo-Keggin polyoxoanion, which is further interconnected by [M(en)2]2+ (M=Cu, Co and Ni) groups via the terminal oxygen atoms of polyoxoanions. A novel two-dimensional (2-D) solid material [Ni(en) 2 ] 2 {SiMo VI 8 V IV 6 O 42 [Ni(en) 2 ] 2 }·4H 2 O 1 (en = ethylenediamine) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by IR, UV–Vis spectrum, elemental analysis, XRD, ESR, XPS, X-ray diffraction analysis, magnetic property analysis and electrochemistry study. Single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals that the 2-D framework of compound 1 is based on Mo/V/Si bicapped Keggin clusters interconnected by nickel ethylenediamine complexes. A new compound based on bi-capped Keggin polyoxoniobates and copper coordination complexes, with formula [Cu(en) 2 ][Cu(en) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ][Cu(en) 2 (H 2 O)] 2 [H 4 SiNb 12 V 2 O 42 ]·7H 2 O ( 1 ) (en = ethylenediamine), was obtained under hydrothermal condition and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectrum (IR), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV–vis) and electron spin resonance (ESR) analysis. Compound 1 has three different types of copper complexes in it. Abstract: Two new organic–inorganic compounds based on polyoxometalates, metal halide clusters and organic ligands: [BW12O40]2[Cu2(Phen)4Cl](H24, 4′-bpy)4·H3O·5H2O (1) and [HPW12O40][Cd2(Phen)4Cl2](4, 4′-bpy) (2) (Phen=1, 10-phenanthroline, bpy=bipyridine), have been prepared and characterized by IR, UV–vis, XPS, XRD and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Crystal structure analyses reveal that compound 1 is constructed from [BW12O40]5−, metal halide clusters [Cu2(Phen)4Cl]+and 4, 4′-bpy ligands, while compound 2 is constructed from [PW12O40]3−, metal halide cluster [Cd2(Phen)4Cl2]2+ and 4, 4′-bpy ligands. Compound 4 contains a 1D chain structure with two 2,2′-bpy ligands as double bridges. Compound 1 exhibits a 1-D chain structure constructed from Pseudo-Keggin polyoxometalate bi-supported transition metal coordination complexes linked by K+ ions. Abstract: Three new supramolecular compounds based on triethylenediamine and different polyoxometalates [WVI 3VV 3O19H]{[Cu(HDABCO)]2(H2O)} (1), [P2MoVI 18O62][HDABCO]2[H2DABCO]2·12H2O (2) and [MoVI 7.5WVI 0.5O27][Cu(HDABCO)]2·2H3O·2H2O (3) (DABCO=triethylenediamine) have been synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by IR, TG, XPS and X-ray diffraction analyses. Crystal structure analyses reveal that compound 1 exhibits a face-centered cubic packing motif, compound 2 displays a supramolecular structure constructed form the “chains” arranged hexagonally, compound 3 contains [Mo7.5W0.5O27]∞ chain decorated by [Cu(HDABCO)]2+ cations, which was then packed into a layer structure. Abstract: A new compound [Mo8V7O42][Cu(2,2′-bpy)2]2[Cu(2,2′-bpy)]·2H3O (1) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR, UV–vis spectrum, elemental analysis, XRD, ESR, XPS, X-ray diffraction analysis and magnetic property study. Abstract: A novel modified POM (im)2·2H2O (im=imidazole) (1) has been hydrothermally synthesized from the system Sb2O3–H3PMo12O40–H2C2O4–im and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–Vis, XPS, TGA and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Abstract: Two novel polyoxometalate derivatives, {X IVWVI 10WV 2O40[Cu(en)2(H2O)]3} [X=V (1), Si (2); en=ethylenediamine], have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis, XPS, EPR, TG and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. They represent the first classical Keggin polyoxoanion supported by three transition metal complex moieties, which further act as the neutral molecular unit for the construction of the interesting three-dimensional supramolecular frameworks. The magnetic properties of 1 have also been studied in the temperature range of 4–300K, and its magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie–Weiss law, showing antiferromagnetic coupling. Abstract: Two new polyoxometalates (1) and (2) (en=ethylenediamine, phen=1,10-phenanthroline) have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, EPR, XPS, elemental analysis and thermogravimetry. Their structures exhibit interesting 3D supramolecular networks, and contain new bicapped (pseudo-) Keggin-type tungsten–vanadium cluster and the template transition-metal complexes (TMCs) being generated in situ under mild hydrothermal conditions. Abstract: Two supramolecular architectures based on polyoxometalates: [4,4′-Hbpy]2[Ni(4,4′-bpy)2(H2O)4][AsWVI 11WVO40]·4H2O (1) and [4,4′-H2bpy]2[PMoVI 9MoV 3O40]·2H3O (2) (4,4′-bpy=4,4′-bipyridine) have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, XPS spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The two compounds consist of 4,4′-bpy units with different polyoxometalates, α-Keggin [AsWVI 11WVO40]4− and pseudo-Keggin [PMoVI 9MoV 3O40]6−, respectively. No direct interactions occur among polyoxoanions in these two compounds, but the clusters together with metal-organic units or organic 4,4′-bpy units and/or water molecules construct the high-dimensional supramolecular networks through hydrogen bonds.
