This case study explores use patterns of an academic library following the addition of several non-library units. Of specific interest were the initial destinations of patrons, the number of destinations visited, and the primary purpose for coming to the library. We observed all destinations of patrons as they entered the building and administered an exit survey to gain additional insight into patrons' use of the library, including all first floor destinations visited and their primary purpose for visiting the library. We used selected statistics to further explore library use. Findings indicate that non-library units are a popular destination for library patrons but do not eclipse the overall use of library units; that the majority of patrons only visit one destination per trip to the library; and that the primary purposes for which patrons come to the library are studying and the use of library materials. This paper examines how various private patrons intervened to support research in gravitational physics from the late 1940s through the early 1960s. Our analysis centers primarily on two wealthy and eccentric businessmen, Roger Babson and Agnew Bahnson, and their efforts to galvanize the study of gravitation. Not only did these patrons provide generous funding at a time when the subject of gravitation received few other institutional sources of support; they also helped to knit together a research community. Moreover, we trace the evolution of their patronage efforts, as scientists and patrons revised their arrangements to address what came to seem weak or ineffective features of the original efforts. These unusual philanthropic efforts played an outsized role in spurring what has been called the renaissance of general relativity during the middle decades of the twentieth century. In the summer of 2016, the Staten Island Museum was challenged with developing an audience for its new building and location. With exhibitions that change infrequently, programs became the way guests accessed museum resources. Museum staff reinvented the personality of museum programming while putting its new location “on the map.” The response to this challenge was “Summer Nights,” a series of events featuring hands-on components that engaged new and existing patrons with the museum’s collection and the unique history of Staten Island. Collaboration between librarians and archivists is a valuable way to share expertise and effort when instructing first-year English students on research skills they will need to succeed in college. It is also vital to orienting new faculty to library and archive resources for their scholarship and teaching, as well as encouraging students to value the library and archives resources and knowledge. The unique first-year English program at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) provides a constantly renewing pool of both new students and faculty members. This article identifies common themes in library and archive instruction and key elements of engaging first-year faculty and their students in becoming long-term patrons, in the midst of Georgia Tech's Library Next initiative, a re-imagining of the twenty-first century library and a major renovation of physical spaces. Imam-al-Bukhari RA (194-256 A.H) was born in Bukhara on 18th Al-Shawal. His full name is Muhammad Bin Ismail Bin Ibrahim Bin Mugheera, his patronormic is Abu Abdullah and his appellation is "Bukhari". He is among those great benefactors of the (Muslim) "Umma", the fruit of whose diligence and struggle is benefited by all till this day. He was blessed with retentive memory and competence in the science of Sunna'h (Hadith). Reading or studying seem to be food for his mind as teaching and learning was his inherent quality, reporting and writing Hadith as his daily business. He made people write numerous Hadith. This article, by analyzing the teaching methodology of Imam-Al-Bukhari, will guide teachers towards means and ways to bring improvements in their teaching techniques. Likewise, students would be able to know the methods used by the great Imam, the roots of which are found in the era of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS). They will better understand the methods of the Prophet (SAWS), who was sent as a teacher for the entire humanity. Abstract: Robert E. McKechnie, M.D.C.M. (1861–1944), was a distinguished graduate of McGill Medical School and a pioneer in the early days of surgery in Vancouver, Canada. He was a long-standing Canadian leader in both clinical and academic surgery. In addition, he played an important role in the founding of the University of British Columbia. Do popular reading materials belong in college and university libraries? Although some librarians think not, others believe there are compelling reasons for including them. The trend toward user-focused libraries, the importance of attracting patrons to libraries in the digital age, and, most importantly, the need to promote literacy at a time when it has reached its lowest levels are all reasons why academic librarians are reconsidering their ideas about popular reading materials. In the wake of the French Revolution, the newly founded First Class of the Institute in Paris was able to make major contributions, not only to science but also to medicine. Unfortunately, the latter has hardly been appreciated. These medical contributions may be summarized as being: (1) through the interests of two of its sections, (2) through patronage and, in particular, its exceptional encouragement of one young man, Francois Magendie, (3) through the Montyon legacy, (4) through its implicit recognition of pharmacy and pharmacology. Special attention is given to the relationship of the official body of science with Magendie, the founder of experimental physiology, through a detailed study of the minutes of the meetings of the First Class (renamed the Academy of Sciences after 1816). Whereas one might have expected medical institutions to have played a significant part in the development of the medical sciences, it was the Academy of Sciences which played a leading role.
