This paper is aimed at examining the implications of historical-cultural school conceptions main theses on educational research process, going from the overall comprehension of the object of research to the methods to be applied and the procedures proposed for its transformation. The notion of instrumental mediation, anatomic physiological mediation and especially social mediation is taken into consideration. The psychic development is revealed as a result of the educational process, which is considered as an interactive and interpersonal process that should favor both the orientation and internalization processes. Examples of educational research completed by the main author are given to argue the influence of this perspective on research related to intellectual stimulated development on slight mental retarded children.
