I The Economist's Craft i is a guide for navigating the research process in economics and as such is geared primarily towards doctoral students and early-career faculty. This book is excellent - the writing is clear and accessible, the discussions are well-focused and detailed, and I found my own professional experiences to be largely in line with the career guidance provided by Prof. Weisbach. I most appreciated the discussions of Ch. 12 about navigating the Ph.D. program: in my direct and observed experiences, Ph.D. students are frequently taught how to navigate the Ph.D. program by other Ph.D. students (often senior, though not always), often to one's own detriment. Dr. Terman's article discusses the use of advance care planning (ACP) and advance medical directives to address the desire of many individuals to avoid prolonged immersion in advanced dementia. Dr. Terman suggests expanding the concept of suffering to include elements of indignity and burdens on family caregivers in order to encourage cooperation from healthcare providers in allowing deeply demented patients to die. However, the author of the review disagrees with this approach, arguing that the existing legal and ethical frameworks already provide for the implementation of advance directives without the need to redefine suffering. Chapter 10, "Addressing Unevenness" is the most attractive part here: it connects behavioural theory to (regional) economic development, transformation, and well-being. The book represents an ideal follow up to Edward Glaeser's (2011) I The triumph of the city i , where an optimistic view about the way urbanites currently benefit from living in cities was presented and documented. For each of those future strategies and policy options, Glaeser and Cutler provide guidelines based on their reading of the present crisis, in the light of their prior applied studies dealing with urban life from an urban and health economics perspective. Nevertheless, a sound policy reaction must be designed, lest funding for local policies substantially shrinks and the urban policies suggested in Glaeser and Cutler's book are literally choked. It not only gives a broad overview of the effect of disease on wildlife, but also addresses the underlying causes of disease spread. Three features of the model are public ownership, emphasis on hunting as a conservation tool, and a ban on commercial trading. The titles of the chapters are also very suggestive, and reflect their content: for example, chapter 4, "Half a century of policy mistakes", chapter 5, "Scapegoating Globalisation", chapter 10, "A tax policy for the left behind", and also for the rest of the chapters. This book is a welcome evaluation of six English-speaking "liberal" welfare states Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States, comparing decent minimum wage or living wages. The US living wage campaigns aim to set compulsory wage standards for employers at city, county and state levels as a response to the US minimum wage still $7.25 per hour (Luce, 2022). However, the trend is moving towards a challenge to the classic orthodoxy that higher minimum wages do not necessarily increase employment and higher living wage floors need to address rising living costs. Further, trophy hunting may have increased markhor and ibex populations, but it has also contributed to vilification of the snow leopard for the wild animals it consumes.
