The top photograph shows the Eagle formation within some hills or outcroppings in Montana. The foreground of this photo is filled with grass, sagebrush, and other plant life. A small group of coniferous trees is visible in the middle of the photo on the slope of the second hill. The second photograph shows the badlands near the Judith River and Cow Island. The land in the foreground is smooth and covered in grass. The badlands are rockier and have trees at the tops of the outcroppings. The third photograph shows the badlands looking over the Judith River. The foreground of this photograph has many trees. The river is visible in the valley. The middle left of the photo shows the badlands. Underneath each of these photographs is an inscription written by Sternberg.

The top photo depicts two men sitting in the middle of an excavation site near an outcropping. The two men are sitting so that they are facing one another, and they are both looking at a pile of loose rocks and a large turtle shell between them. The bottom photo depicts the excavation site. Behind the site, an outcropping can be seen. Many loose rocks are also visible within the excavation site. Handwritten descriptions can be seen beneath both photos.

The fault line is in front of the hill, where it begins to protrude from the ground. The hill has a stratified and eroded surface. A man is standing about two-thirds of the way up the hill in the center of the photo. He is wearing a white shirt, khaki pants, and a black hat.

A valley, which Sternberg notes another photograph as being the badlands, sits between multiple outcrops in front of the river. In the mountains and the badlands, different layers can be seen. Shrub brush and sage can be seen at the front left-hand corner of the picture. Trees border the river on the far side of it. Multiple sand bars appear in the middle of the river.

A black and white photo of a specimen being packed into a box for transport. Two men are in the quarry where the fossils specimens were excavated and they are preparing a box to hold the specimen that is sitting on top of the box. One of the men has his right arm in the box while his left arm rests on a side. The other man is standing behind the box with the specimen directly in front of him. Two horses stand to the right; one of them is hitched to a small pallet that will be used to transport the box down the trail. Tools, tarps and other supplies are seen to the left of the men. There is some damage on the photo that shows what looks like fog or clouds in the right center of the photo.

This page is from George Sternberg's personal photo album. These black-and-white photos were collected by paleontologist George Sternberg. The top photograph shows the Claggett shales in Alberta. At the bottom left of the middle Claggett, Eagle sandstone is poking up through the shale. The shale is dark and rocky. The stratified sandstone is much lighter and smoother. The bottom photo shows the anticline in Dog Creek Valley. In this anticline, the Eagle sandstone is visible coming up through the Claggett shales. The top of the middle outcropping is lined with many coniferous trees, and the foreground of the photo is covered in grass and sagebrush. Underneath each of these photos is an inscription written by Sternberg.

This page is from George Sternberg's personal photo album. These black-and-white photos were collected by paleontologist George Sternberg. Above the photos, an inscription written by Sternberg says, These 2 views were taken in the Cypress hills. Sask. 1914.” The top photo shows four horses grazing in a pasture. At the foot of the hills behind the pasture are a small ranch house and a sod barn. The second photo shows the Cypress Hills. On the left side of the photo, the hills are covered in grass. On the right side of the photo, the valley is flat. Wheel tracks are visible along the front edge of the muddy section of the field. Underneath each of these photos is an inscription written by Sternberg.

The bones were identified as a discovery of George's Chasmosaurus (ceratops) between pages 94-95 of the book written by Charles H. Sternberg - "Hunting Dinosaurs in the Bad Lands of the Red Deer River in Alberta, Canada."

These photos show rivers, rock and land formations, and different vegetation, including coniferous trees, including cottonwood trees, and prairie grasses. Underneath the photos are cursive inscriptions by the paleontologist George Sternberg. All of the images include photos of fossil-bearing outcrops. Two of the photos include a river, a camp with two light colored tents, and Rosse's ranch.

These outcrops contain layers of sedimentary rock. Taken about three miles south of Steveville in Alberta, Canada, the breaks appear on both sides of the Red Deer River. The badlands surrounding the river are rocky and uneven. The valley directly surrounding the river is flatter and has vegetation and trees.

The top photo shows the Bear Paw shales along the Judith River. The foreground of this photo shows plenty of grass and plant life. The midsection of the photo shows the river, and beyond the river is a large geological formation or outcropping that contains the Bear Paw shales. The bottom photograph shows the Judith River riverbeds which have been shoved up through the Bear Paw shales. This photo also displays plenty of plant life including grass, sagebrush, and cedar trees. The shales are visible on the left side of the photo at the bottom of the hills. Underneath each photo is an inscription written by Sternberg.

Located on the banks of the Red Deer River near Tolman, the outcropping has a sizable area where the results of the landslide can be seen. A log building is still standing along the banks on the left side of the photo. Two men are standing on the river bank between the floor where the house had been and a boat that is moored along the shoreline. Large rocks are seen in the river.

Coniferous trees grow along the slope of the cliff on the left and right sides as well as along the top of the cliff. A wide river can be seen at the base of the cliff. This image depicts a portion of the Paskapoo Formation and was taken near Red Deer in Alberta, Canada, though Sternberg has not specified whether this is the Red Deer River of Red Deer township.

A black-and-white photo of two men standing in a fossil quarry with a loaded wagon. The landscape view of the photo shows the quarry consisting of sculptured breaks. The wooden wagon is seen in the lower-middle section of the photo. The wagon is loaded up with already wrapped fossils. Behind the wagon are wood beams that help slide the heavy fossils closer to the wagon. In the center of the photo, above the wooden beams, two men stand posed for a picture. The man on the right has his hands on his hips and wears overalls. Excavation tools are littered before his feet (shovel, pickaxe, sledgehammer). The man on the left stands looking down at the wagon. George Sternberg provided a cursive inspiration underneath the photo. Picture is also printed between pages 100-101 of the book written by Charles H. Sternberg - "Hunting Dinosaurs in the Bad Lands of the Red Deer River in Alberta, Canada." with the caption Chasmosaurus Quarry.

A black-and-white photo that features a cliff with a vein of lignite. The rock of the cliff, primarily light in color, contains a thick, dark band of lignite, or brown coal, near the top of the formation. Because of its status as a low-grade coal, the lignite in this picture presents an example of the types of mineral deposits found in Canada. A river is at the base of the cliff. This formation represents part of the Edmonton Group, known as the Edmonton Formation at the time of the picture, of Alberta, Canada.

Around the trees, the ground is covered in grass, but the grass is less prominent in uncovered areas. Large outcroppings rise in the distance at the back of the photo.

The black-and-white photograph shows two men working on lifting a Chasmosaurus belli skull with a Triplex block (tripod with pulley). On the left side of the photo stands this tall tripod. For legs, it has three 12'-15' tall wooden logs that come together at the top to form a tripod with a pulley system attached to it. In the middle of the picture, one man is pulling on the rope of the pulley system while wearing gloves. On the left of the photo, a second man is leaning against one of the legs of the Triplex block while observing the procedure. The rope is tied around the wrapped Chasmosaurus belli skull being lifted off the ground. In the background of the photo is an outcrop with tufts of sagebrush scattered across it with a tarp resting at its base.

Most of the hills are rounded and covered in grass and shrubbery, but the rightmost hill is pointed at the top and is mostly dirt.

This page is from George Sternberg's personal photo album. These sepia-toned photos were collected by paleontologist George Sternberg. The top two side-by-side photos serve as a panorama that Sternberg took of the Edmonton formation at the Red Deer River, which shows the many spruce trees scattered throughout the area. The highest point of the formation is right at the midpoint of the panorama. The bottom left photo shows more of the Edmonton formation, as well as a small section of the Red Deer River. The bottom right photo was taken from the bottom of a large coulee. Underneath each of these photos is an inscription written by Sternberg.

This black-and-white photograph is of the scow after completion. The three men depicted in the picture appear to be working to start launching it onto the water. In the background of the photo, there are many trees, and a railroad bridge can be seen to the far right. Among the trees is a worn wooden rail fence. Also, to the far right is pictured a small sliver of the river. The remaining lumber from the construction of the scow is on the far left of the frame. This lumber can be observed in other photographs of this site. Some of the lumber is covered by a tarp or possibly the tent.

A black and white photo of a broken portion of rock with a fossil described by Sternberg as a Carnivore. The top reveals where the large rock has been chipped. Starting from the middle of the photograph and moving toward the bottom of the photograph, a large, partially uncovered fossil skeleton is visible.

In this black-and-white photo, a huge stratified outcrop without grass and trees is visible. The top of the outcrop is flat, and a larger of coal appears near the top. Horizontal stratification of the huge outcrop can be clearly seen, and the upper half of the outcrop is vertical while the lower half of the outcrop slopes into the valley. Stones scatter in the lower slope part of the outcrop, and the bushes of sage grow in the crevices of the outcrop. Some other large stratified outcrops can be seen in this photo.

There are outcroppings at the edge of the valley on both sides. Trees are lined up along the banks of the river. There are harvested crops in the valley on the right side of the river. The Sternberg's' camp can be seen along the river near the center of the view. Two tents are on the land, and the scow with its tent is on the river.

A black-and-white photo of a white motorboat on a wooden wagon in front of the Great West Lumber Co. mill door. The door opens and closes along a rolling track. Four men are shown positioned around the wagon, overseeing its transportation from the mill. The men all wear hats and dark pants. One wears a vest over a white shirt; another wears suspenders. The two other men both wear dark coats. The ground mostly consists of packed dirt with little clumps of grass. Three smokestacks emerge from the left-hand side of the mill's roof. Wooden chutes and scaffolding to transport logs hug either side of the mill's structure. A black dog sits behind one of the men. Given other photos of Sternberg's, the dog appears to be the group's companion.

This black-and-white photograph shows the Edmonton formation at the Red Deer River. Many spruce trees cover the ground at the base of the coulee. Around the trees, the ground is grassy, but the incline of the coulee is rockier and only has a few spots of grass. At the top of the first incline, the land is flatter and has grass and a few trees spread over it. Beyond the flat area, the coulee continues to rise.

Just above the area that drops off, a large fossil is visible through the rock. Sternberg describes the fossil as a Carnivore. Beneath the fossil there is a small pile of loose bones toward the right side. From Charles H. Sternberg's book "Hunting Dinosaurs on Red Deer River, Alberta, Canada", pg. 51, Mr. Sternberg notes that this exposed skeleton was found by his son, Charles (Charlie) M. Sternberg near Steveville along the Red Deer River.

In the entrance of the hole, a large shovel is propped against the wall. To the right of the entrance, three pickaxes are propped against the hill. The right photo shows Sternberg's colleagues driving a team of four horses up a steep winding path through the hills. One man is standing in the wagon filled with fossil specimens and is driving the horses. The other man is running next to the horses. Underneath both of these photos are inscriptions written by Sternberg.
